Spotlight on Ryan Morstad

Updated: May 24, 2024

Goodfellow & Schuettlaw is thrilled to welcome back Ryan Morstad!

Ryan has now joined us as an articling student following an impressive first and second year summership at the firm. Ryan recently graduated with his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary, while also holding a Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Services) from SAIT. Hoping to provide assistance while working with small business owners, Ryan took courses such as Entrepreneurial Law, Business Venture Clinic, Business Associations, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Law, Real Estate Transactions, Tax, and Securities Law.

We are also very proud of Ryan in his achievement as the recipient of the Grant McKibben Prize at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. This award is given to the student that “epitomizes the energy and spirit of the law school”.

When he’s not working, Ryan is an adventurer at heart. With a love for competitive video gaming and global travel, he has visited over 45 countries, embracing experiences as diverse as shark cage diving in South Africa, sandboarding in Morocco, and canoeing through the Arctic Circle. Ryan’s adventures fuel his dynamic approach to life and law, bringing a unique perspective to his professional endeavors.

If you happen to meet Ryan, don’t hesitate to ask about his thrilling adventures. His stories are not only jaw-dropping but also reflect the spirited and determined mindset he brings to his work at Goodfellow & Schuettlaw.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
