Hon. KENT HEHR P.C.
In the context of legal practice, I prepare people to weather unexpected and difficult situations that inevitably come our way in life. The emotional toll legal files can take on clients is significant, so I ensure that the plan and likely progress of a file is presented and understood at the outset.
Kent is an inspired community builder who has worked to improve the lives of Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Born and raised in Calgary, Kent is engaging, compassionate, and forthright. He speaks plainly about issues facing his community. Constituents and clients alike, know him as a conscientious, goal orientated individual who continually exceeds expectations.
Goodfellow & Schuettlaw welcomes Kent as strategic advisor to our general litigation, employment law, real estate, and personal injury clients. With his past experience at both the provincial and federal levels of government, Kent brings a deep understanding of the intersection between law and politics. He excels at bringing people together, building relationships, and identifying mutually beneficial opportunities.
During his political career, Kent was the Member of Parliament in Calgary Centre and was appointed to cabinet as Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities and Minister of Veterans Affairs. Kent also served for two terms as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Buffalo.
Before entering politics, Kent practiced law in Calgary at Fraser Milner Casgrain, now Dentons LLP and participated on a number of not-for-profit boards in the Calgary community. These included Between Friends, the United Way and Spinal Cord Injury Alberta.
Ever passionate about the well-being of his fellow citizens, Kent has a particularly strong connection to organisations that help children and families building their lives with the challenges of a disability. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of the Cerebral Palsy Alberta and the Children’s Link Society.
Kent is married to Deanna Holt and is an avid supporter of his five nephews and two nieces as they participate in school plays and compete at hockey rinks and ball diamonds across Calgary.
